INTRODUCTION

To set up a FedEx account properly, you’ll have request two sets of keys while going through a FedEx formal validation process:

A. Test account: Used for testing purposes, prior to label validation.

B. Production account: Used by the customer as the final account.

There is information provided by the FedEx as part of the Key request process, and the other part is sent to them via e-mail to the registered e-mail.

Once the labels are approved, and the testing account has been tested properly, the customer can start using the production account. The process is the following:

This article details STEP 1, since Techdinamics' staff will take the process from STEP 2 forward with the information you provide from STEP 1.

STEP BY STEP WALKTHROUGH

REQUEST FEDEX TEST AND PRODUCTION KEYS

To begin the process, you’ll need to access FedEx’s Web Services site (https://www.fedex.com/en-us/developer/web-services.html) in order to request Test and Production keys.

These keys will be used for the Carrier setup and the Client information within TechShip, allowing you to enable usage of the shipping services.

Before accessing, it’s important to understand what information is provided and how in the process:

ACCESSING FEDEX WEB SERVICES PAGE

1. Login to FedEx (https://www.fedex.com/us/developer/web-services/) with your account credentials

GETTING THE TEST KEY

First of all: What is a Test Key? For the moment, let’s define them as what you need to setup a test account in techSHIP so test labels can be printed, which are necessary to get certified by FedEx before the moving into Production stage.

Let’s see how to get them:

1. Access the Develop and Test section and request the Test Keys

2. The FedEx system will guide you through a 3 step process:

a) Specify the contact info, where you’ll have to press continue if no modifications are required. You do not have to change anything unless the address is incorrect.

b) Accept the License Autorization terms (Continue)

c) Receive the Developer Test Key and Meters. You will receive an e-mail with the remaining information.

WARNING: Save the Developer Test Key and accounts in a text file and keep it in hand. You will NOT get access to that information in the future by any other means

Losing it implies repeating the whole process. Copy the Test Account Number and Meter Number as well in the file for convenience. You will need them for future steps.

3. You will receive an e-mail from FedEx. Save it with the information you already got in the previous step, and send/forward it to support@techship.io or your Techdinamics contact representative.

The mail will include:

a. Test URL (we don’t use it)

b. Test Password: The one related to the key

c. Shipping account number: It’s the test account number

d. Meter number: Number associated with the process

GETTING THE PRODUCTION KEY

First of all: What is a Production Key? It’s the actual credential set (together with more information which will be mentioned) with which TechShip will connect with the Carrier and through which your shipping will operate.

Let’s see how to get them. The process is almost identical to getting the Test Keys:

1. Access the Move to Production section and request the Production Keys

2. The FedEx system will guide you through a 5 step process:

a) Define your application profile as defined in the following screenshot and press continue:

b) Comply and accept the terms of the license agreement and continue.

c) Specify the contact info (will display the account owner's information), where you’ll have to press continue if no modifications are required. Do not make changes unless needed.

d) Continue on the Developer info screen.

e) Receive the Developer Key and Meters. You will receive an e-mail with the remaining information.

WARNING:  Save the Developer Production Key and accounts in a text file and keep it in hand.

The mail will include:

a. URL (we don’t use it)

b. Production Password: The one related to the key

c. Shipping account number: It’s the customer’s account number

d. Meter number: Number associated with the process

The process won’t be able to move forward without the information you have been provided, and if not forwarded to Techdinamics' staff.

After doing so, you’re all set getting the information you need from FedEx to begin the setup on TechSHIP’s side.

STEP 2 – CREATE CARRIER ACCOUNTS

This step is done by the Techdinamics team. Please provide the list of accounts (Acct. Numbers, test credentials – key, password and meter - and address/contact information) to be set up for each case in order to be able to continue with the process. Reach us to support@techship.io with the request or directly to your Techdinamics contact.

From this point on, we will notify you of the progress of the certification and account activation.
