DHL has announced that operation for their V2 API will be discontinued, to give step to V4 API connections.


How does this affect you?


If you're shipping through DHL e-Commerce (Global Mail) and your connections are currently through the V2 API, once DHL discontinues it, you won't be able to process orders unless the connection is updated to V4.


We are proactively taking steps to ensure it is so, and this guide will help you, in coordination with the techShip support team, to perform the corresponding upgrades.


The update process consists of the phases detailed below:



PHASE 1 -  OBTAINING THE NEW V4 KEYS 


DHL will have to provide you with new API keys for your account.

Once you have the new keys, provide them to techShip support, which will create the new connections.



PHASE 2 - MIGRATING THE SERVICE CODE MAPPINGS


The new setup will have blank service code mappings.



You will need to set them up in a similar fashion as you already did for your current DHL Global Mail V2 setup.

PHASE 3 - CREATING THE NEW BILLING ACCOUNTS


Your clients will have the DHL Global Mail V2 billing accounts configured, but to target the V4 connection, you will need to add and set up new billing account profiles.  


For a smoother transition, we suggest you open your V2 billing account profile in one tab and the new V4 billing account profile, split screen, and copy-paste the necessary information according to the V4 account setup guide:

Remember that adding the account to the Billing Account list doesn't mean it's operational.

Make sure you edit it, and at least cover the critical/required fields for the setup.


Once you finish migrating the setup from the V2 account to the V4 account profile, proceed to the next phase.


PHASE 4 - TESTING YOUR NEW SETUP


We strongly suggest you test your new setup before remove the V2 connection.


You might use a service level of your preference, or force ECO mode if you want to test rates.


There are two ways to test your setup:


A) Import an order from the WMS for each Client that uses DHL, and make sure you process the order selecting the right Carrier Connection from the dropdown before processing to force it:



B) Download the test file depending on your country, and make sure that before you import it for each one of your Client profiles, you change the ClientCode row value to reflect the Client Code.


Once you have tested your new accounts successfully, move forward to the last phase.


PHASE 5 - DISABLING THE OLD V2 CONNECTIONS


To fully disable the V2 account setups and connections, reach techShip support requesting disabling them.


It is not necessary for you to remove/delete the account setups from each one of your clients. In fact, we don't recommend you do so.


As techShip Support staff disables the V2 connection in the backend, the account setups at the Client level will disappear.


After completing this phase, you will have successfully migrated DHL Global Mail V2 to V4.
