When processing orders through the techSHIP Desktop Client, you might need to compare rates between the default packing coming from the WMS to rates merging the default packages, typically used to compare Small Parcel with LTL Rates.
This feature allows you to swap these package dispositions on the fly to achieve so.

To do so, you will have to:
1. Switch to the Settings tab (you will access Connection by default)
2. Check the Allow Alternate Packing checkbox
3. Press Save to apply the changes
4. Switch to the Process tab
5. Scan and Preview the order
6. Switch between Default (original packing) or Alternative (merged packing) from the Cartons dropdown
After doing so, you may Estimate or directly Process and Print, as well as switching back and forth within modes according to your needs.
For example, with this original setup of two cartons measuring 10x10x10 inches, weighing 2 and 4 Lbs respectively:
The change to Alternate merges them, adding the weight, and removing the dimensions (which can be reassigned manually according to the new packing)
