You can set up a U-PIC insurance provider account to insure shipments through it, instead of using the insurance service provided by the selected carrier.

NOTE: Techdinamics has pre-negotiated insurance rates through the U-PIC insurance provider. For more information, please get in touch with your Customer Success Manager (CSM).

Each setup step is covered in the following sections:

A. Onboarding

B. Setting Up an Account

A. ONBOARDING

Before adding U-PIC as an insurance provider and setting up its accounts, you need to become a U-PIC client through Techdinamics:

1. Go to https://u-pic.com/techdinamics-client.

2. Fill out the form

3. Press Submit.

You will receive a welcome kit at the provided email address. Review and follow its instructions. As a result, U-PIC will send you the API key required for techSHIP integration.

WARNING: Store the API key securely. Do not share or expose it.

B. SETTING UP AN ACCOUNT

To set up a U-PIC insurance account, follow the general process described in How to Add and Set Up an Insurance Provider [Step-by-Step Guide]. When filling out the Account tab, enter the following U-PIC-specific fields

  • API Key: The API key provided by U-PIC during onboarding. Required for system authentication.
  • Cost per DVU: The cost charged by U-PIC per Declared Value Unit (DVU). DVUs are always rounded up. This value is then used to dynamically compute your insurance fee.

    NOTE: For example, if:
    • The entered Cost per DVU is $0.3.
    • The shipment's  declared value is $250.
    • 1 DVU equals $100.
Then, $250/$100 = 2.5 DVU, rounded up equals 3 DVUs.
Finally, your coverage limit is 3 DVUs = $300, and your insurance fee will be $0.3 x 3 DVUs = $0.9.

WARNING: DVUs are currently calculated in $100 increments. This value may change in the future. Refer to U-PIC’s official documentation for the latest DVU policy.

  • Parcel limit: The maximum insurable value per parcel under this account, typically aligned with U-PIC’s underwriting limits.

WARNING: Shipments that exceed this limit may be only partially covered or denied insurance.
